The First Youth2000 Survey in 2001The first National Survey of the Health and Wellbeing of New Zealand Secondary School Students was conducted in 2001 by the Adolescent Health Research Group (AHRG) at the University of Auckland.
This was the first survey of its kind in New Zealand and the findings have provided up-to-date information to policymakers, educators, health providers and communities working to improve the opportunities for healthy development for all young people in New Zealand. The survey covered a wide range of health-related areas and the results went beyond simply producing a list of problems and instead offered valuable insights into the positive aspects of young people’s lives and the factors that contribute to keeping them well.
