Accessing the data from the Youth2000 Surveys

The Adolescent Health Research Group (AHRG) welcomes interest in the Youth2000 data set. This set includes data from the two national health and wellbeing surveys of secondary school students completed in 2001 and 2007. The group will be pleased to consider genuine enquiries from students as associate investigators and other suitably qualified researchers interested in using the data.

The Youth2000 data is only accessible through the mechanisms set out in the AHRG Data Access Policy or after consideration by the group to determine that there is no risk to any survey participant, or group of participants, from making the data publicly available. Please also read the guidelines on working with the ethnicity data.

If you wish to access the data from the Youth2000 surveys  this should first be discussed with the Principal Investigator and then a Data Access Request  or DAP needs to be completed. There is a sample DAP to give you an idea of what we need.  The completed form should then be submitted to the Principal Investigator.  All proposals to access the data will be reviewed by the AHRG in accordance with the data access policy and the applicant will be notified of their decision.

There is also a Data Dictionary that provides an overview of the Youth'07 data set, names of variables and how the final data set was put together. A copy of the Data Dictionary can be obtained through application to s.grant@auckland.ac.nz
